Good tamper, good price.

This is a really nice feeling and looking tamper. The price is incredibly fair, especially when compared to something like the normcore equivalent. When comparing it to the tamper that came with my gaggia classic pro.... well that's just not even a fair fight.

Hugely misleading product description - this is not a 25lb calibrated tamper. Nice tamper otherwise

The very light spring that is in the unit is approximately only 7-8 pounds, not 25 pounds, and as reviewer N.W. from 2/8/23 states, is there just to keep the leveling plate down. It's up to you to apply the correct pressure to tamp the grounds as the inner rod is solid steel. Description lists both a 15pound spring and a 25pound spring- there is only one spring in here? Also, the depth adjusting ring is a little too easy to spin - it needs to have either a higher tension or a locking nut of some sort. As you use the tamper it easily spins because it's located right where your fingers are at. So other than that, it does a fine job for a relatively inexpensive tamper - fits my 58mm portafilter almost perfectly and all tamps are truly level. So I'm a little disappointed that the tamper is not what is advertised, but it gets the job done.

Great inexpensive tamper

True 58.5mm tamper that fits my IMS basket perfectly. Leveling plate is very helpful. Very smooth compression action - unlike the gritty Normcore. The 15lb spring is only useful for keeping the leveling plate down. For tamping pressure you have to rely on your own manual determination of whether you've tamped hard enough (which should simply be when you feel that the coffee puck is fully compressed) - which is better than the Normcore's false calibrated spring claims (their springs are not calibrated at all).
