MiiCoffee DF83 II Gen 2 Single Dose Coffee Grinder is a professional-grade grinder designed for single dosing. It features custom-made 83mm Red Titanium espresso flat burrs that produce a fluffy grind with minimal clumping and excellent particle size consistency. The DF83 II incorporates design improvements inspired by the DF64 II and DF54, resulting in a more refined and efficient grinding experience. It also includes a large-capacity hopper for those who prefer not to single dose or need to grind larger amounts of coffee. The redesigned grinding chamber is a major upgrade from the original DF83. It features four strong springs mounted around four guide posts to maintain precise alignment between the upper and lower burrs, ensuring consistent performance across the entire grind range. The DF83 II delivers extremely low retention—even without using the bellows. When the bellows are used, they help keep the grinding chamber clean and free of residue. This is a true all-purpose grinder, capable of handling everything from espresso to French press. Whether you're an espresso enthusiast or a coffee brewer, the DF83 II is a dream machine built to elevate your coffee experience.

Problems

The first use right out of the box has grounds being backed up and not coming out of the chute. A search online shows lots of people having this issue. It appears the fix is to take it apart and modify or remove the clear plastic piece behind the plasma generator. One would expect a thousand dollar machine to function properly ($650 + $300 burr replacement). I am not happy.

What is your grind size setting? If you grind too fine it won't come out.

Fast, accurate, and quiet

This is an amazingly solid grinder that grinds quickly and quietly. How quick? My old conical burr encore took around 30 seconds to grind 35 grams of beans. The DF83 grinds the same batch in around 5 seconds. The grind is beautifully consistent, easy to adjust and provides an awesome espresso grind. About the only drawback (very minor) is that the "manual" is laughable. Almost no useful information.

Totally worth it! ☕👍 Flat burrs!

It's a little overkill for me, but I wanted to take the hobby seriously and it's my first flat burr grinder. Went with the glossy white over the DF83V for the better appearance; it just looks a lot better and don't need variable speed. Good unboxing experience and nice accessories to go with grinder. Not loud and sounds pleasant, but this is just my opinion and is subjective. Might sound different to others depending on their aural acuity.

Also got the SSP HU burrs, but haven't opened them yet and just trying to dial in with stock burrs for now. Even with stock burrs, I'm getting better quality grinds. Apparently seasoning is a thing and I'll just let it season naturally through use over time, so it should just get better with age. Love the quality of life improvements like the declumper and Ionizer.

Funny thing is, the grinder costs more than my espresso machine (Gaggia Classic Evo Pro) and the SSP HU burrs cost more than my previous grinder (Breville Smart Grinder Pro). This hobby's gotten out of control, albeit a practical and fun one. It's turned into a daily ritual to consume coffee.

Can't upload photos larger than 10 megs ☹️. You don't wanna see the fine mess at my place anyway.

Lifechanging Grinder

Coming from cookie cutter grinders (Capresso Infinity), the DF83 has changed my life, literally. I enjoy waking up early to pull a shot and taste all the notes in my beans that I previously was not able to! Amazing grinder end-to-end, best purchase I've made in years.
